Trip to Japan and South Korea April 2014
Japan was so beautiful! The cherry blossom season was a wonderful time to see the country; many afternoons were spent walking through the streets watching petals fall like snow and covering the sidewalk. I really liked the green tea cream puff, and of course the sushi. I saw a few monkeys, and took a Japanese pottery class in Kyoto.
Below are pictures of some of the food I ate. The eel was extremely fresh. The man stuck his hand in a bucket, grabbed a squirming eel, put it on the table and cut its head off. You can see the grilled end product, also, below. I couldn’t resist.
Below are pictures of the island of Jeju in South Korea. My first morning there I woke up to CNN’s breaking news of a sinking ferry. It was a national tragedy. Unfortunately it also rained most of the time on Jeju…a sad time on Jeju! I managed to get a lot of sightseeing in, regardless. Apparently proper storage of squid is on top of a cart, tentacles falling of the edge. Of course, I tried bites of everything.
